Abstract

The Venezuelan Sign Language Laboratory (LSV) has its origin in the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas, which was created in 2005. Based on that experience, the creation of the Laboratory was proposed in the Pedagogical Institute "Rafael Alberto Escobar Lara "(IPRAEL) of Maracay, because in 2004 the University Council authorized the creation of the Special Education Program on Mental Retardation. In that same year, the LSV Level I Accreditable Extension Activity was approved for the entire IPRAEL population. From there, the need arose to have an adequate space for teacher training required by the country in terms of attention to people with hearing disabilities and linguistic diversity. The general objective of the laboratory is to provide the space that facilitates the acquisition, development, production and understanding of the LSV in students, teachers and community; through training, research, extension and the development of innovative teaching resources.The type of research was projective, supported by a field design.
