The Quebrada Tabure watershed is in a serious situation since the anthropic intervention has caused the destruction of the natural vegetation cover. An impact assessment is needed to define viable alternatives to mitigate the adverse effects of human activities with the active participation of the communities in the sector. In this way, a recognition of the conditions of the basin was carried out through a research-action process with members of the Communal Council neighboring the area (Lomas de Tabure II and III). Field trips were carried out to identify the mother plants and define a pilot sector together with a reforestation proposal. Likewise, seedlings were extracted from accessible sites. These were moved to an umbraculum, transplanted in plastic bags and height measurements were taken. They were left in the umbraculum for their subsequent transplant in an appropriate area of the creek that would allow the restoration of the gallery forest. The selection of the species was made according to the availability of juvenile plants in risk areas, the ease of extraction and the presence of mother plants. These were: yagrumo (Cecropia peltata L.),
quebracho or granadillo.
