Quantum theory of light as a tool to explain the Catatumbo lightning: utopia or dystopia of a scientific reality
Keywords:
Quantum theory of light, Catatumbo lightning, energy capture, energy storage, electrical energyAbstract
The quantum theory of light provides us with a solid theoretical framework for understanding lightning. While it is not
the only theory involved, it helps us understand how electric charges are formed, how discharge propagates, and how light
is emitted. This theory, together with other branches of physics, allows us to have an increasingly complete understanding of
natural phenomena. In the quantum theory of light, one finds the dual nature of light and its interaction with matter at the
atomic and subatomic level; revolutionized our understanding of the world, giving rise to numerous technological applications that we use in our daily lives. In this scientific essay we present a study on how, through the quantum theory of light,
lightning can be studied and its associated phenomena, seeking to raise the possibility of taking advantage of the electrical
energy generated by lightning to supply energy consumption in society, possible energy capture and storage systems are considered and we present a study of the most suitable materials that can withstand the great energy power released by lightning. With respect to the lightning bolt or rays of the Catatumbo Lightning, it is stated that it is a natural lightning field. The idea of harnessing the energy of lightning to supply electricity consumption has captured the imagination of scientists for decades. However, despite its appeal, the reality is that capturing and using lightning energy efficiently and cost-effectively presents significant challenges. As we move forward in developing new technologies for storing and capturing electrical energy,
we may find more efficient solutions to harness this powerful force of nature
