Open Science Challenges in Unstable Environments

This research aims to generate a group of categories that outline the challenges of open science in unstable environments. It isbased on the guidelines proposed by UNESCO, 2020) and on documents related to the purpose of study. It is part of the concept that open science is “a movement to make scientific research, data and its dissemination accessible to an avid society of knowledge” (Bezjak, Conzett, Fernándes, and others, 2019, p.8). It is a difficult term to conceptualize because it depends on the epistemological approach of the researcher. Research was approached from the interpretive paradigm as a differentiating element to transit in the world of open science. This approach, he enabled, described- to understand and interpret the challenges of open science in unstable environments from the gaze of seven (7) actors who were given an open interview. The results showed two categories: technological and economic environment, and five (05) subcategories that group nineteen (19) revealed meanings from the fragments of the seven interviews. It was concluded with the generation of challenges for open science in Venezuela: a) technological environment and b) economic environment. Which are directly linked to economic, political resources and basic services which in one way or another are affecting open access to knowledge and limiting science, technology and innovation (CTI)
